Naked Build is about harvesting the materials we use and not stripping the earth of its limited resources, that’s why we combine the best of traditional thinking with that of modern methods of manufacturing.
The Naked Build Company was created to stand out from the crowd. The world is changing at pace in part because it needs to. Ecological design will become mainstream in just a short time. We’re here to help adventurous, well-informed people who seek a new authentic place which chimes with the environment. We appeal to those who are happy to make a statement design in order to experience a more natural health and wellbeing.
The UK is largely conservative in its building design. The construction industry is dated and inefficient in its processes. The costs of this are inevitably passed on to the customer. It’s an industry which also accounts for around 50% of our carbon emissions. We’d like to change all that; not least because it’s well within our grasp. Thinking and acting differently after all is accessible to anyone. Applying it is what we do.
Our purpose is to inspire people to build-in nature, so that we can sustain and thrive in a new world.
An environmental base for National Trust constructed from oak frame, straw bales, cob and shingle roof on rammed earth tyre foundations. This was procured to allow volunteer involvement within the build.
Several years later this building still creates a stir for anyone visiting. It’s a special place, which has a feeling like no other. The Footprint is a beacon for change within National Trust.
I’ve never has so much wholesome fun working on such a fabulously worthy project.
This is an exciting design which employs modern digital based manufacturing techniques for easy lightweight self build, approaching passive house level. The scheme includes optimising biodiversity net gain with green roof and nature friendly woodland planting.
The project proposals have been submitted for planning approval and we await the outcome before the end of the summer. It promises to deliver another example of how we can build differently and live more sustainably.

Utilising a variety of sustainable building systems, including innovative methods like 'Wikihouse', we make construction accessible regardless of your experience level. Our systems combine digital design with micro-manufacturing to create a streamlined, waste-free construction process. Using clever jigsaw-style connections, traditional jointing, wedges and pegs, means you require nothing more than a mallet and the ability to follow engraved references to assemble either a standard or bespoke frame.
